Grow your dancing skills with our Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 group classes every week. Take your dancing from beginner to wow!

If you enjoy the social aspects of learning to dance, then learning in a group is a great choice. No partner is required to attend our group classes. Switching partners is not required for those attending as couples, but we do encourage beginners to give it a try. We offer 3 levels of ballroom dance classes, so you can grow your skills and find your stride on any dance floor.

Parking: free at venue parking lot. If parking lot is full, additional parking available next door at Fillmore Auditorium (non-concert nights), or come inside to get free parking pass for bank 1 block north.

Venue Policy:

IMPORTANT - The Denver Turnverein Venue Policies for Groups and Dances:

Strides Ballroom must follow the venue requirements for usage. The Denver Turnverein venue requires a $15/annual venue membership or free 3-time venue guest pass (does not include Strides class fees) for anyone attending evening group classes and dance parties. This membership goes towards the preservation and upkeep of this historical ballroom. Guest pass available at front desk or become a member at link.

Group Class & Dance Party Tips:

Q: What should I wear to class?

A: Wear comfortable clothing. Most students come to class in business casual or casual wear. For Dance parties casual for weekly practice dance party, see specific attire suggestions for theme or special dance party events.

Q: What kind of shoes should I wear?

A: Wear comfortable shoes that stay on your feet and have a little slip and a little grip. If you can do the twist on your kitchen floor and your shoes don't grip to the floor, your shoes will work for our Beginner classes. We suggest students wear dance shoes for Level 2 and Level 3 courses.

Q: Do I have to change partners?

A: Though changing partners is optional. We encourage everyone to change partners as we have found a partner change for a few minutes can increase body awareness, helping you learn faster and become a better partner.

Q: How early should I arrive?

A: When coming to a class for the first time, try to arrive 10 minutes early for check-in at the front desk. Arrive to class on time, it can be extremely disruptive to the flow of the class if you arrive late. The teacher will not be able to take time to catch you up if you arrive late.

Q: How can I pay?

We accept cash, check, Venmo QR, and credit cards for payment.

A compete introduction to the fundamental patterns, dance holds, and timings used for the ballroom dance being taught. Couples & Singles welcome, prices per person. We recommend starting at the first of the month or at the latest starting by the 2nd class. If you miss the 1st two classes we recommend starting up next month.

Level 2

Take your skills you have learned and expand your knowledge with more style and pattern variations. You are no longer a basic beginner but not quite a full fledged intermediate level dancer, this is the level for you. Couples & Singles welcome, prices per person. You are welcome to drop into this class, but understand that if you only attend the last class of the month, the instructor will not have time to catch you up.

Level 3

Intermediate level ballroom class (Upper level Bronze & Lower level Silver). Occasionally this class will cover a more challenging style of dance at a beginner level such as Viennese Waltz or Quickstep. Take your dancing to a new level with lead/follow tips, style and techniques, and more complex variations. This class is a drop in class, though we may carry over some concepts from week to week in a month, you will not have needed to attend previous weeks to be comfortable in class.

Dance Practice Wednesdays 8:00pm-9:30pm

Immediately following the Level 1 & Level 2 ballroom group classes, the Ballroom Dance Practice will be a great opportunity for anyone wanting to practice their ballroom dancing skills on a large dance floor during the week. A hour and a half, the perfect amount for a mid week dance practice. We welcome all ballroom dancers of all levels to this weekly ballroom dance practice. Come as a couple or single, switch partners, stay with your partner, or even practice your dancing solo if you wish.
